Nouveau Biker Chic

Hello there,
I'm back!! I apologize for the silence, school started. While I was trying to settle down with that, it was hard finding someone who will have time to take my pictures. I hope I will be able to post regularly like before.
I love leather and it's probably the only reason I look forward to autumn and endure winter (Because the cold is definitely not a reason!) I didn't feel like wearing any leather jacket, so i decided to throw my warm coat on instead, hence "Le Nouveau Bike Chic" Lol.
Somewhere tropical would be nice indeed.

Afric Hipster

Hello there!
I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was pretty quiet, I did go to a Puerto Rican restuarant in the South End. One of my roommates and friend Eunice aka "le food connoisseur", who was my amazing photographer, took me there.
After taking so long to figure out a way for you to get email notifications, I think I found the answer. Below the "Blog Archive", I put up a place where you can put in your email address and that should solve it.
Sorry about the blurriness, but I really like this picture!

Sekem aka Nigerian Glissement Yobi Yobi

Hello there!
I trust your week went well and you are ready for the weekend (woop woop!) So for those turning up this weekend I have a dance for ya. As I was listening to songs on my playlist, I heard the song Sekem by Mc Galaxy (you know, the one that sang Nek- Unek ft Davido) and I realized I never watched the video before. So went on YouTube. As I watched it, I was moving my feet along with Mc Galaxy, totally feeling this dance. And I felt like I have seen this dance before. The Ivorian artist Consty Dj came up with a type of coupe decale dance called Glissement Yobi Yobi. I love what Mc Galaxy did with his version, adding the Nigerian traditional flare to it though. Watch the videos and let me know what you think.

"The Original version" aka Ivorian version;

Now the Naija Version

P.S; Have you checked out my playlist? It is on the blog's side bar (right underneath, my instagram ) I put links to songs that have been listening to and songs I just found too.

Have a great weekend!

Denim Suit

Hello there!
A friend is going home for a few weeks so I was helping him to do a few last minute shopping, meet with other friends for lunch and a movie.
I'm really digging this denim trend they had for the spring/summer season. I was never a denim person because they never fit me properly so I stuck to leggings. But as you can see I'm having a change of heart. Just so u know Zara isn't the only place I buy my clothes, it is just coincidence, lol. Decided to pair the jumpsuit with my Aztec print high sandals. I love my heels, they were hard to break into but now I can walk miles in them!

Fally Ipupa- Original

Hello there!
Seeing as I spent my weekend at a Congolese wedding, it is only befitting that this week's clip should come from Congo. They played this at the wedding and the men wear dancing like Fally Ipupa and his dancers. It was so cool, I just had to join them and dance it too.
Now that I know how to dance the song;Fally if you ever see this post, I would like to dance this song with you.
Just holla ;)
Have a great weekend,

Fleur Rouge

Hello,
I hope you are having a great week so far. Last weekend I was invited to a Congolese traditional wedding reception, it was my friend's' cousin's wedding. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the actual wedding ceremony because they did it the day before. It was a real bummer but I understand, they wanted it to be intimate, just with their family members.
I was really excited to see what happens at a Congolese,  and I was not disappointed! From the music, the dancing, and not forgetting the "Sapologie". I mean these men were not playing games; with their sunshades, "pointini"shoes (male shoes that have a pointy head). And the way they danced I thought I was watching a Koffi Olomide or Fally Ipupa music video. No wonder my roommate loves this country so much (she is from Ghana but has claimed Congo as her country, lol).

So about my outfit; one day after work I stopped by H&M to see what they had(they sell out of their trendy pieces so fast, you won't even know if they ever got anything in the first place). As soon as I got in, my eye landed on the skirt and top. I met my friend at the fitting room, and when I tried it on I loved it! But I was thinking where would I wear this outfit to, and she told me about her cousin's traditional wedding. Et voila!

My roommate who was my amazing photographer by the way, insisted that I take a picture by the fire hydrant. She claims "it will give the picture a balance of color." I mean who says things like that? Only Africans will do such things, lol.
